Should a Google Workspace business train on Gemini?
Most businesses on Google Workspace have Gemini sitting inside Gmail, Drive and Docs already, often without realising it is part of the plan they pay for. Training starts there, on the material your work already lives in.
The short answer
If your business lives in Gmail, Drive and Docs, Gemini is already sitting on the material it needs. That is the argument for training on it, and it is a good one. It is not that Gemini beats the alternatives. I would not tell you that about any of them.
Sessions run the way all our training runs, in person around Sydney or online for teams further out: on your team’s own jobs, with the safe-use rules settled first and a person approving anything that leaves the business. Which platform suits your business is answered separately at Gemini for Google Workspace.
Check what you already have first
One founder worked out partway through a session that Gemini had come with her Google subscription the whole time, and she had never once opened it. She was about to pay for something else. What is already in your Workspace plan is worked through properly on the Gemini platform page
Which is the reason we look at your stack before anyone recommends adding to it. Find out what you are paying for, then decide what is actually missing.
How the sessions run
Foundations first: what it is, what is safe to put in, what never goes in, and who checks what comes out. Short, plain, and settled once so the practical work is not interrupted by doubt. Then everyone works a real job of their own, inside the documents and mail they already have open, because that proximity is the point of using the assistant built into your own ecosystem.
The habits we teach are the ones that hold on any assistant. Give it the context it needs rather than a bare question. Tell it not to simply agree with you. Check anything you are going to rely on against the source, because these tools sound most confident exactly when they are wrong. And nobody leaves without one job to own, a named next step and a date.

The rules we teach are the ones we publish in our own AI use policy
The rest of the stack still counts
The argument for Gemini is that your business already lives in Google Workspace. That does not stop anyone opening something else, and it should not: the session covers what your team actually uses, whichever logo is on it.
Questions we get asked
We run on Google Workspace. Is Gemini the obvious choice for us?
It is the obvious first thing to check, which is not quite the same. If your business lives in Gmail, Drive and Docs, then the assistant built into that ecosystem starts with an advantage no other tool has, because the material it needs to be useful is already there. Whether it is the right answer depends on the jobs you want done, and that is worth twenty minutes of honest conversation rather than a recommendation from a website.
Are we already paying for it?
Possibly, and it is worth checking before you buy anything else. Google has bundled AI features into Workspace plans, and one founder we sat with worked out mid-session that she already had it and had never opened it. Checking costs nothing and occasionally saves a subscription.
Is Gemini training different from any other AI training?
The habits are the same and we will not pretend otherwise: give it the context it needs, do not let it simply agree with you, check anything you are going to rely on, and keep a person approving what goes out. What changes is where the work happens. Training on Gemini means working in the documents and inboxes your team already has open rather than in a separate tab, which is most of its practical advantage.
Half our team uses ChatGPT already. Should we consolidate?
Not necessarily, and be careful with anyone who answers that quickly. Habits transfer between assistants better than people expect, so a team fluent in one is not starting over. The question worth asking is which tool sits closest to where the work already happens, and whether you are paying twice for the same capability. We look at that with you rather than arriving with an answer.
Does it matter which Workspace plan we are on?
It changes what is switched on, so it is worth establishing before the session rather than discovering it in the room. Google has moved AI features between tiers more than once, which is why we ask you to confirm what you actually hold rather than assuming from the plan name. If the answer is that you already have what you need, that is a good outcome and a short conversation.
